Can you have a kitten soon? Then for sure you want your pet to live well in your house.

You will be faced with many questions. How to take care of a kitten? How do you prepare for the arrival of a new family member? What will he eat? What are his preferences? What kind of diet would suit him best? What does a kitten need to grow up healthy and strong?

These are just a few of the possible difficulties that you will face if you decide to make a furry friend.

Tips from our cattery "Masquerade Waltz" will help you lay an excellent foundation for the future life of your cat. This article is only devoted to the initial and basic things. In the future, we will try to post more information so that you and your kitten are doing great.

Home security.

And so, let's start with planning the kitten's move to your home and the beginning of his comfortable life with you.

Make sure that the house is completely safe and that all risk factors for the kitten are eliminated. By taking precautions right from the start, you can avoid many unpleasant situations in the future.

1. Electric wires must be hidden so that the kitten does not bite them. The sockets must be closed with plugs.

2. The kitten should not have access to medicines, poisons and chemicals.

3. Check in advance if your plants pose a danger to the kitten. There are plants that can poison cats. And cats love to bite weed.

4. Do not give the kitten items that are too small to swallow. For example, rubber bands, pushpins, erasers, and more.

5. Do not throw plastic bags and foam items around the house.

6. Watch out for open windows and balconies so that the kitten does not accidentally fall out.

7. Always close the trash cans and lower the toilet lid.

To help the kitten get used to the unusual environment for him, his new family must properly prepare for the appearance of the baby. Prepare everything you need before the kitten begins to live with you.

Necessary accessories.

In addition to food bowls, purchase a litter box, bedding and toys. You can also take a scratching post for your future cat so that she can sharpen her claws.

Bowls for food and water.

For convenience, the bowl of water should be larger than the bowl of food. Avoid choosing bowls that are too deep. If it is not possible to purchase metal bowls, then you can get by with plastic bowls. However, plastic ones are lightweight and not practical. It is better that there is no possibility of turning the bowl over. For this, it is better to choose heavier, ceramic bowls. Get stable versions of bowls,  so that they stand well and do not budge from their frisky owners.

For example, you should put one bowl of croutons, and the second bowl will be for meat. Crackers and water can be left in a specific location on a permanent basis. The kitten needs constant access to fresh water. Remember to change the water daily and add new croutons to the bowl. It will be great if you don't move bowls of food and water from time to time in different rooms. It is better for the kitten to get used to the place where he is fed and where he can come to have a snack at any time.

Do not worry about the problem of gaining weight or lack of it in the kitten. Usually cats eat as much as they need. No more and no less. Therefore, you should always leave the bowl of dry food.

If the kitten does not want to eat for the first time in his new home, then you shouldn't worry too much. Many kittens, having got used to the place where they were born, have to get used to a completely new place of their habitat.

Is the kitten comfortable and not stressed in your home? Then he will calmly eat, sleep and go to the tray. However, some kittens need more time to get used to a new home, to adapt to a new area. If you love your furry, then be sure that he will feel it. You will understand when he becomes more confident in a new home. For example, if a kitten decides to sleep with you in the same bed or in the same room, then this is a good sign.

Toilet tray.

You should choose a container that is deep enough and not small so that it is not possible to scatter the filler around the room. This is taking into account that the pet is growing fast enough. Do not forget about the scoop with which you will begin to remove the dirty filler. It is better that the tray has sides curved towards the inside of the container. Need to choose a tray for the future  with the growth perspective of a cat.

Make sure the tray is away from food and water bowls. Make sure that the food and water are not at least two meters from the tray. It will be good if the tray is in another room at all, so that food and water do not become clogged by accidental filler entering the bowls.

Keep the tray clean. Clean several times a day so that the house is clean and well-groomed, without an unpleasant smell.

A place to sleep.

A quiet and peaceful place to sleep is vital to your kitten's well-being. Usually the kitten chooses the place where he could sleep. But all the same, it is necessary to provide him with a warm comfortable room so that the kitten has its own place where he would feel safe.

A bed made of soft materials is suitable for this. It can have bumpers so that it is cozy and warm in it. Cats often like to sit in a regular box. It is also very pleasant to lie on the windowsill, so you can put a bedding or rug there.

Toys.

You can make them yourself or buy them at a pet store. Toys are especially important for kittens. Kittens are usually playful and need someone to play with. Anything can do. For example, a crumpled piece of paper can be a lot of fun for your kitten. Cats love fishing rods with all kinds of tassels. These can be feathers or mice or tinkling bells.

Be careful with toys that are intended for children. Small parts can be swallowed by kittens. So do not give these things to your pet. Better to choose something soft or something that rustles and makes a sound that attracts the kitten's attention, but not too loud.

Mice or balls with a rattle inside will also work well as a toy for a kitten.
